Job Description

AFRICA POWER SOLUTIONS, a growing engineering services firm operating throughout Africa is looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to start immediately in Gordon’s Bay, with some flexibility for remote work during the week.

You will work directly with the financial manager to ensure the smooth financial operation and administration of the business, including being responsible for capturing and managing the daily transactions to Trial Balance, maintaining and developing spreadsheets, tracking cash flow and ad-hoc recons and analysis.

Experience with project accounting, the technical recruitment industry, construction/engineering, would be an advantage.

Computer literacy and Excel/Spreadsheet skills are absolutely ESSENTIAL. Must be able to do more than just punch in numbers - need to be able to work with formulas and use creative problem-solving to put together spreadsheets that can help to improve financial administration, do analysis, recons, etc.

Job Type: Full-time, 6-month initial contract, with the option to extend. R15-20,000 a month dependent on experience

Duties and Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full bookkeeping cycle 
  • Oversee Debtors and Creditors
  • Maintain and improve weekly cash flow forecast under the guidance of the FM.
  • Assist with audits
  • Balancing Petty Cash
  • Assist in managing accounts receivables.
  • Support company procurement process.
  • Update and improve the cash flow forecast based on supplier invoices, monthly recurring payments, debtors expected payment dates, forecasted expenses.
  • Maintaining and reconciling bank transactions
  • Payroll and timesheets for subcontractors
  • Reconcile monthly general ledger balances, invoices, customer statements, and bank statements.
  • Assist with the preparation of standard reports as well as other custom reports as requested.
  • Maintain all financial records and files as per the company policies.
  • General office duties

Minimum Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Accounting / Finance / B Commerce coursework (may be substituted with additional experience).
  • MS Excel at intermediate-advanced level (comfortable working with formulas and building spreadsheets)
  • Knowledge & experience with SageOne / Xero accounting package (advantageous).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience.
